Help! I'm having a hard time putting into words what I feel about the current climate of the "Me Too" movement. I hope you will indulge my semi off topic comment. I am 63 years old, of the generation that first started the feminist movement, I have not considered myself a feminist because I have always been pro-choice and as such have not been welcome. I have however always stood for women's rights, equality, equal pay for equal work, stood against work place harassment, as a paralegal have helped represent women who have been harassed, raped and abused. I raised my children to be strong women and men, to be self sufficient and to get educated and be anything they want to be. Not to abuse but to respect the opposite sex, that relationships should be based on love, respect and equality. Now I am in a position when one of my daughters is a 100% pro-choice angry feminist and I can't even have a conversation with her without her being angry at me and treating me like a traitor. Over the Kavanaugh confirmation, she posted a blog by Jessica Valenti "The Gaslighting of American Women" How do I find a way to talk to my daughter and others who seem to have the opinion that due process does not apply to sexual assault or abuse cases. Is it really true that women are always the ones to be believed and that the man is always the liar. What if just for purposes of argument, the woman's allegations are false, is it ok to ruin a man's life because she has the right to be unquestioningly believed? I am confused, upset and tormented that this is where feminism has brought us. Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16212534502537897465noreply@blogger.com
